Unbelievable sequence of NPR stories

August 6th, 2003 · 1 Comment

This morning on NPR there was an unbelievable demonstration of liberal bias and liberal obtuseness. It began with a ridiculous story about how Amnesty International is worried about five thousand Iraqi prisoners of war being held in prison in Iraq. They are worried because the prisoners have been subjected to such horrible things as being handcuffed, questioned, made to kneel down, and subjected to the heat of the desert. The amazing thing is not so much the ridiculousness of the story. Obviously the things mentioned are not torture – far from it. What was amazing was the contrast between this story and the story immediately following it.

The very next story on NPR was about the THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND mass graves that have been found in Iraq, allegedly mostly due to executions of innocent men, women and children by the regime of Saddam Hussein. Where was Amnesty International when these people were executed? How can NPR run a story about 5,000 prisoners of WAR, when the war that resulted in those prisoners ended a brutal regime that executed citizens by the hundreds of thousands?!?

Another amazing thing is that the second story was also told with a tone of criticism against the US and armed forces in Iraq for not doing enough to protect the graves from looters and relatives searching for loved ones. Two negative NPR stories that ironically, together show how amazingly positive the liberation of Iraq is. NPR needs to improve their editing and programming if they want to continue being a strong liberal force in the media.

The ironies and internal contradictions of liberalism laid bare by none other than NPR…wow.

More perplexing is the chronic inability of liberals to realize the folly of such incompatible positions…even when inadvertantly highlighted by their own network!
