Have you ever known a woman who became involved with a man who was known to have abused other women? What advice is always given to her by rational, caring friends?
Cut off the relationship! Dump him! End it now! And what reasons will the poor woman give to continue the relationship? He has never hurt me. I see no evidence of his violence in our relationship. I’m going to give him more time and see if I discover any evidence of his abusive nature.
Then the abuse happens and what is the continued excuse of the poor, deluded, abused woman? I’ll give him just one more chance. He’s going to counseling. It seems he’s willing to change. All he needs is a little more time.
These relationships, despite all logic, are known to continue, one week, one month, one year at a time - for up to 12 years and longer!
