Muslims, Accused of Being Violent, protest with Violence

February 3rd, 2006 · Comments Off

Do they see how foolish they look with these kinds of headlines?

Let’s get this straight. Some newspapers published cartoons that implied that Mohammed, the founder of Islam, inspired violence in Islam’s followers. So to protest this, Muslims responded with violence — destroying things, throwing rocks (of course), threatening people, calling for executions, throwing bombs (one of the cartoons showed Mohammed with a turban made of bombs.) It would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad!

Listen to these quotes:
“Bin Laden our beloved, Denmark must be blown up”
“If they want a war of religions, we are ready”
“Hands that reach Islam must be broken”
“Long live Islam, destroy our enemies”
“Whoever defames our prophet should be executed”

If they want violence so badly, why are they complaining about accusations that they are violent?

And why doesn’t the press point out this incredibly obvious flaw in an entire culture’s logic?

Best Movies of 2005

December 12th, 2005 · Comments Off

I’m listing the top 5 movies of 2005 here because there have been some very high quality films produced this year. If hollywood made more films like these, the movie industry would have a lot more respect.

1 - Cinderella Man (best film in 2005 and one of the best of the last 10 years)
2 - Narnia - the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
3 - Crash
4 - Walk the Line
5 - King Kong, March of the Penguins?

I’m not sure about number five. King Kong was a great technical film and very fun to watch, but wasn’t the best story. Penguins was facsinating, but not too exciting.

February Update: Now that the award season is here, it’s interesting to note how different my list is from most award lists. It shows how out of touch Hollywood is with the people who see their movies. It also shows how out of touch they are with quality stories with moral foundations.

New York Times Bias

November 30th, 2005 · Comments Off

The Times is impressive in it’s efforts to put negative spin on even the most positive news. For example, today’s headline:

“Upbeat Signs Hold Cautions for the Future”

Usually upbeat signs hold evidence of upbeat trends. But the times is able to find a cloud in every silver lining that appears during a Republican administration. After listing all the positive economic trends, they state, “For every encouraging sign, there is an explanation and concern for the future.”

That’s right, if we find good news, we’ll find an explanation for it that will explain why it’s actually bad news and why you should be concerned.

End of the Argument…

November 11th, 2005 · Comments Off

…But probably not the end of the lies on the left.

President Bush finally spoke out to expose the hypocrisy and dishonesty of the left and their attempts to re-write history. His message deserves to be quoted word for word:

“One of the hallmarks of a free society and what makes our country strong is that our political leaders can discuss their differences openly, even in times of war. When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong bipartisan support. I also recognize that some of our fellow citizens and elected officials didn’t support the liberation of Iraq. And that is their right, and I respect it. As President and Commander-in-Chief, I accept the responsibilities, and the criticisms, and the consequences that come with such a solemn decision.

While it’s perfectly legitimate to criticize my decision or the conduct of the war, it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began. Some Democrats and anti-war critics are now claiming we manipulated the intelligence and misled the American people about why we went to war. These critics are fully aware that a bipartisan Senate investigation found no evidence of political pressure to change the intelligence community’s judgments related to Iraq’s weapons programs.

They also know that intelligence agencies from around the world agreed with our assessment of Saddam Hussein. They know the United Nations passed more than a dozen resolutions citing his development and possession of weapons of mass destruction. And many of these critics supported my opponent during the last election, who explained his position to support the resolution in the Congress this way: “When I vote to give the President of the United States the authority to use force, if necessary, to disarm Saddam Hussein, it is because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a threat, and a grave threat, to our security.” That’s why more than a hundred Democrats in the House and the Senate — who had access to the same intelligence — voted to support removing Saddam Hussein from power.

The stakes in the global war on terror are too high, and the national interest is too important, for politicians to throw out false charges. These baseless attacks send the wrong signal to our troops and to an enemy that is questioning America’s will. As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war continue to stand behind them. Our troops deserve to know that this support will remain firm when the going gets tough. And our troops deserve to know that whatever our differences in Washington, our will is strong, our nation is united, and we will settle for nothing less than victory.”
