Obama’s latest ad attacks John McCain for helping corporations.
What is a corporation? It is an “anonymous society” – an organization owned by many, often millions of people, governed by the owners, run by hired managers, and employing workers. Corporations provide jobs for millions of workers throughout the country. They produce the goods we buy and provide the services we want. What is wrong with helping corporations? 40% of Americans own stock in corporations. 50% of American workers work for corporations. Helping corporations means helping people.
It’s the greedy, filthy-rich CEOs that liberals are really concerned about helping. But that’s just one person in each corporation. And guess what – the owners of the corporation pay that person. They don’t pay themselves. If it weren’t worth the investment to pay a CEO lots of money, owners wouldn’t do it. Lebron James gets paid a lot of money because he’s good. CEOs get paid a lot because they increase the value of the shares owned by the owners. And in addition, they keep all the other managers working hard with the hopes of one day making the big bucks – again increasing share values.
What Obama wants to do is keep taxes high on corporations so less money goes to the American people and more money goes to the government. The government is also a big employer, but a hugely inefficient provider of services. Giving money to the government results in an economic “dead weight loss.” This isn’t a political opinion, it is an economic fact, proved by mathematics, and learned by anyone that ever takes an entry-level economics class.
Helping corporations means transferring wasted government spending to productive, market-driven, economically efficient American workers and investors.
For people educated in economics, Obama’s latest ad will backfire. Unfortunately, that’s only 15% of the population. And most of them are already conservatives.

So, what did you think of Obama’s speech last night? He said he wants to cut taxes for 95% of the population and increase the taxes of only the very wealthy. That’s got to appeal to a lot of people.

Same old lie. Only the rich will be taxed. But as explained above, raising taxes on corporations hurts everyone. So he’ll take it out of one pocket after putting it in the other. He’ll also be raising gas taxes and any other thing he can tax to make up for his middle class income tax cut (which by the way will never happen anyway).
