A few dozen very public Hollywood stars want to “overwhelm Washington” with anti-war emails on Wednesday February 26th. Led by Robert Greenwald, who learned all about military defense and international diplomacy producing such films as “Xanadu” and “The Burning Bed”, is leading the campaign to convince the President and Congress that Saddam Hussein should be given more time (perhaps another 12 years?) to disarm.
There are at least two major flaws in their campaign.
First, they assume that Americans follow Hollywood’s lead when it comes to making political, economic and moral decisions.
Second, they assume that Congress and the Bush Administration really WANT to go to war. The Administration is focused on DISARMING IRAQ, not going to war. The United Nations resolution was supposed to result in DISARMING IRAQ, not in inspecting Iraq.
Those who side with Hollywood on this important issue side against the millions of tortured, murdered and oppressed Iraqis who are tired of being led by a tyrant. They also side against the millions of Americans who want to disarm a dangerous dictator that supports terror.
Let’s hope we don’t have to go to war. Let’s hope that if we do, it won’t last long. But let’s support our country’s Administration in using military force to DISARM Saddam Hussein and make progress in winning the war on terrorism.
Without the US’s strong show of force to date, there would not have been so much progress with Iraq already. On February 26th, Let’s offset Hollywood with an equally strong campaign, not supporting war, but supporting the Administrations efforts, our allies’ efforts, and the UN’s supposed efforts to DISARM IRAQ. Please call, fax or email your representatives in Congress and the President on February 26th to let them know that Hollywood actors are not the only people in the country with an opinion on this issue.
Disarm Iraq!
Win the War on Terror!
