I’m listing the top 5 movies of 2005 here because there have been some very high quality films produced this year. If hollywood made more films like these, the movie industry would have a lot more respect.
1 - Cinderella Man (best film in 2005 and one of the best of the last 10 years)
2 - Narnia - the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
3 - Crash
4 - Walk the Line
5 - King Kong, March of the Penguins?
I’m not sure about number five. King Kong was a great technical film and very fun to watch, but wasn’t the best story. Penguins was facsinating, but not too exciting.
February Update: Now that the award season is here, it’s interesting to note how different my list is from most award lists. It shows how out of touch Hollywood is with the people who see their movies. It also shows how out of touch they are with quality stories with moral foundations.
