Nobel Political Statement Prize

October 7th, 2005 · Comments Off

The Nobel Prize committee awarded their “peace” prize to a strong opponent of the Bush administration. Is this a surprise? This prize should be called the “Nobel Political Statement Prize.” It has continued to lose what little credibility it had. After all, Yasser Arafat won one. So did Jimmy Carter and Kofi Annan. Who doesn’t win one of these? All you have to do is be a terrorist, or one of the other many opponents of peace and security provided by the US and you’re a strong candidate.

Someone posted on a message board: “Bush demanding Nobel War Prize”. The humor on the message board shows the lack of seriousness associated with this joke of a prize. Of course, bringing freedom to 45 million people by confronting terrorists and tyrants through war probably does deserve a prize.
