Museum Whine:The latest whine that has surfaced to complain about the liberation of Iraq is the looting of the Iraqi National Museum (see Missing: 5,000 years of history in the Boston Globe, 4/21/2003). There are many reasons this is more whining than a true reason to criticize the liberation.

From an Associated Press article from April 15, 2003: “Having declared war against terror worldwide, singled out Iraq, Iran and North Korea (news - web sites) as an “axis of evil,” and then gone to war with Iraq, President Bush (news - web sites) has raised fears abroad, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, that the world’s only superpower would use its muscle freely against dictatorial regimes.”

Yes, Bush has raised fears. He has raised the fears of other dictators and the Europeans that support them that they too will have to confront the forces of freedom and democracy.
